Singer Deepak admits that life has changed since Mersal ’s single ‘Aalaporaan Thamizhan’ released last month. His social media accounts have suddenly come alive and Deepak says he’s been receiving tonnes of positive feedback. It’s the welcome he had been waiting for, ever since he took the plunge to become a full-time singer, leaving behind a career in microbiology. “I knew my version had made it to the final film, just the day before the single was launched,” says Deepak. “But even when I went to the studio to record, I knew it… I knew this song would work big time.”
Getting a chance to perform the song on stage during Mersal ’s audio launch has further made the welcome special. “What added to the feeling was the chance this song gave me to sing with Sathya Prakash and Pooja AV. All three of us participated together in Airtel Super Singer . It was like a reunion.”
Having sung even earlier in Jilla and Veeram , Deepak says, “I remember the excitement in the theatres each time the ‘Jilla’ theme came on. And now, I can’t wait to see how the crowd erupts when ‘Aalaporaan Thamizhan’ comes on during Mersal ’s FDFS. Born and raised in Chennai, the 30-year-old singer is trained in classical music, and is presently undergoing training for western vocals as well. He has already sung for all the major composers in Tamil industry.
